Jason and Amy's Wedding
Tell us your love story – how did you meet and fall in love? We first met at Jason’s rugby club after many injury visits to the Physio’s room. It must have been the 2 black eyes and cut on the head Jason was sporting that sealed the deal! Describe your wedding day in 3 words. Happy memorable Perfect
Tell us about the location and style you chose and why? We always wanted to get married in a church and our local parish church is just beautiful (Christchurch, Epsom). For the reception venue we new it was the place for us the minute we walked into Wodlands Park Hotel The High ceilings and Edwardian style about is was just lovely, helped along by the fact that it is set in beautiful grounds with nothing but green land surrounding it. I don’t think our wedding had a particular style or theme – we just chose the things we liked and kept it simple
Did you include any antiques in your decor? If so, please share your favorites and how you sourced them. We didn’t have any antiques – but absoloutly loved the bird cage style candle holders we had as our centre pieces. A lot of the wedding décor was sourced after Amy went to the National Wedding Show (http://www.nationalweddingshow.co.uk) and found the wholesaler Lavendars of London (http://www.lavendersoflondon.com), based in Twickenham – they have so much there and just love the style of pieces they have.
Tell us about the moment you knew you had found *your* dress. How did you know? I am not going to lie the dress hunt process was something I was dreading, I didn’t want to go to a local shop so sourced The Bridal Room in Horsham (http://www.bridalroom.co.uk) – and I wasn’t disappointed. The manager there, Laura, was just great – I tried on 7 dresses and thought I had found the one (but wasn’t too sure, in hindsight was not the one haha) and then they said lets just try her in the Gayle – well that was it, I knew as soon as I put it on, that had to be it – it was just so simple and elegant but still with a bit of sparkle. I didn’t believe it beforehand but it is very true what they say – when you find THE dress, you just know!
Bride’s favorite memory? There are are so many from me to choose from! I think seeing Jason for the first time as I stood next to him (he wouldn’t look as I walked down the isle!), My dads face when heard the song I had chosen for our dance together (he is a huge Led Zepplin fan so I chose the song Thank you) and just generally seeing all of our family and friends having such a good time. It was just an amazing day all round
Groom’s favorite memory? Seeing Amy in her dress for the first time as she arrived at the alter.
If you could give one piece of advice to yourself back when you were bride-to-be/groom-to-be, what would it be? To relax more in the morning and try not to get to stressed haha (Amy) – once your in the dress and on the move all will be fine haha
Jason – Just do whatever the bride says!!
And, lastly, where did you honeymoon?
We went to Sorrento, Italy for 10 days and stayed in a beautiful hotel – The Hotel Capodimonte. It was such a lovely place to go, and so much to do and see. Thanks to the generous donations from our family and friends we were able to go to the Isle of Capri, Pompeii, Mount Versuvius and just generally enjoy every single minute we were there.
